If you use the 3 prong switch, the fogs will still work, the problem is that the light won't.
Pre-Wired Fog Lights
Most of the diagrams for your switch are set up for sourcing power to the relay, not sinking it. The issue is that if you source power, you have two resistances in parallel- the relay coil and the light bulb filament. This means that some of your 12 volts goes across each resistance- light turns on and coil and relay activates. If you sink power- you have 12 volts coming from the relay coil and the light is in parallel with the switch contacts Approx 0 Ohms.
In this case all of your power will go through the switch contacts and none will go to the bulb. The stock Toyota switch avoids this problem, since the illumination is independent of the switch contacts. Subbed for future reference.
SmoothFoxDec 4, I'm wanting to put fogs in my 07 base model, I want to just stick to the OEM too, where is a good place to buy everything? I don't think there is anything pre-wired in my truck at all tho, correct? ILove2DriveDec 4, Thanks for all the information in this thread, I now have completed my first real mod, fog lights. NorCalTaco33Apr 9, Lie under the front of your truck and look straight up between engine and bumper towards the truck not against the bumper. If it's pre wired you should see the wires for the fog lights tied off above and in line with where they mount on bumper, they have a plug already attached ready to plug into the back of the light bulb.

I was going to install fogs, since it did not come with any, and wanted to check on whether it was prewired for them as I see is often the case. I have the wires to the switch pre-wired from the factory and they were easily found behind the blank in the dash. I can't for the life of me find the wiring harness in the engine bay.
I've looked up between the grill and the engine, under the fender wells, everywhere I can think within easy reach and it's nowhere to be found. What am I missing? WaterfieldOct 14, Look under the front bumper. Should be tucked away, wrapped in black tape above the crashbar. Ross09Oct 14, Did you end up finding the wiring harness in the engine bay behind the bumper? Post Reply. I am in the process of installing fog lights on my Tacoma. It is pre-wired for fog lights but the switch that came with the kit does not fit the plug that was factory wired. I attached a picture of the two plugs. The green one fits the switch which is significantly narrower than the one already wired.
Exploring my options from here seems like I can Cut and tape plug from kit to wiring already there. By new switch?? Just run the wiring from the kit. In my search of fog light switches prices vary greatly and specs are vague. Anybody come across this issue? Factory switch! Will plug right in there and work. I have a used one that I would be happy to sell if you are interested. BTW, its the black one that goes into the factory fog light.
